Yoga's Message

It’s been a little over a month since I started doing yoga every Friday morning for an hour and I cannot begin to articulate how much I have fallen in love with it. I know I am not the greatest, but since I started doing it my core strength has improved and my flexibility is getting better and better.

What I’ve found is that yoga is rather humbling; just when I think I have a pose done perfectly I will go to the other side and my balance will be nowhere near the balance of the previous side. My right side is always a little less stable then my left. Yoga pretty much slaps you in the face and makes you admit that no one is perfect and that everyone has something they need to work on to better themselves, always. But I love that about yoga. It makes me realize that I can always do something more, improve myself and reach higher.

There are moments while I am doing yoga where mentally I feel like I just CAN'T do a certain pose for as long as the instructor wants us to hold it. As I feel my body shaking to hold itself up the internal dialog begins, "I can't do this - yes you can - just a few more seconds - breathe". And that feeling is so rewarding to me, it makes me realize I can really do anything I set my mind to and that, in it of itself, is mind blowing.

Listen to your body, it's smarter than you.
