A Beginner's Guide To Crystals

Ah, crystals. I'm such a sucker for them. Some believe that that each one has properties that help balance energy in physical space or inside the body. Some just find them beautiful. Whatever your reason, it doesn't hurt to better understand these stones.

Start Your Collection
It's best to start with crystals that catch your eye. Afterwords you can move on to stones that bring protection. But the goal here is to find ones that you know you can benefit from. Below are a few starter stones you might want to consider. I like to view them as the foundation of any collection.
  • Black Tourmaline - helps neutralize any unwanted energy
  • Onyx - cleanses the air and gets rid of negative energy
  • Quartz - this stone is known as the master healer with a variety to choose from - it helps to relieve stress and frustration
  • Amethyst - helps with anxiety, and is resistant to negative thoughts, feelings and choices. Relieves headaches and fatigue
  • Moonstone - encourages creativity and intuition
  • Citrine - boosts concentration and memory, sparks creativity

How To Care for Crystals
You should store your crystals in a way so they do not damage each other. It's also a good idea to clean them. While some opt to wait for a full moon, most people clean them as soon as possible. You can easily do this by allowing water to run over them.
