Giving Thanks

I have a lot to be thankful for. Especially this year. I'm not going to lie - those newborn days we're brutal. Alex and I questioned our sanity a lot, but our son's happy little smile always made it all worth it. Even if we were running on four hours of sleep (most of the time less).

This year has been truly eye-opening and filled with so many things that I am beyond thankful for. I am incredibly thankful for my husband - he has always been and continues to be a light in the dark. He keeps me steady even when I feel like my whole world is off kilter. And for our son, a child we wanted so badly, you were born healthy and you are the most easy going and happiest baby that I have ever known. You have given your dada and I purpose - we love you more than anything in this world.

Outside of the normal things like health and love - I'm also thankful for a family that cares so deeply for us. From my mother watching our son while we're at work, to once a week sleepovers from my mother-in-law for the first three months of his life, to a best friend that I can always count on. I hate the word "blessed" and the word "lucky" seems cheesy, but the life I have makes me feel both of those things - down to my very core.

Wishing you all a lovely thanksgiving - from my family to yours.

Thanksgiving

I still can't believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving AND that this is our second Thanksgiving together.

Unfortunately, Alex has a stomach bug, poor thing. We're hoping that come tomorrow he'll be feeling better or at least well enough to eat. He's a little bummed too because he was supposed to make an "interesting cheese plate" to bring over to my parents'. But now it looks as though a cheese plate constructed by Alex might not be such a great idea... ;)

Since I'll be taking a social media sabbatical tomorrow I wanted to go ahead and share what I am thankful for and I encourage you to do the same in the comments below!

This year I am thankful for a lot of things; things like love, happiness, health, my family and friends. I'm thankful for the relationship that Alex & I have - a relationship that has given me so much happiness and stability (and I can't wait to marry him!). I am thankful for my wonderful family and the amazing family that I will be marrying into. I am thankful for my best friend Megan because I know she'll always be there for me no matter what. I'm also thankful for bunny Olive - because I don't think life would be as fun without her in it.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Don't forget to leave what your thankful for in the comments below. I can't wait to read them.

Happy Thanksgiving

Last night Alex & I patiently and lovingly slaved over our first two homemade pies. Between making the crusts from scratch, letting it chill and making the fillings it took us 4 hours. So, say hello to Bacon Apple and Fancy Pumpkin. They will meet their full potential once they are consumed later today. I think I'll be posting the recipe for the apple bacon lattice one on here sometime soon, because it would be perfect for christmas as well.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! May your food be tasty and your pies be as good as ours. ;)
