Our Wedding Day Details

Our wedding day was pretty magical and now I have proof. ;) I figured it would be fun to share some of our wedding day details with you all. Consider this an informative teaser, if you will. Because over the course of the month, I will be doing a four-post wedding series that will include even more photos.

Our Vows: Alex & I wrote our vows together, but we each wrote a separate personal part that we shared before our vows. What made it even more exciting is the fact that we didn't share what we had written with each other until the ceremony. We also had a reading of Shakespeare's Sonnet 116.

Wedding "Day Of" Cards: Alex & I exchanged Rifle Paper Co. Till Death Do Us Part cards before the wedding. We read what the other had written thirty minutes before we walked down the aisle. It really added to the excitement and sweetness of the moment.

Wedding Bands: Alex's band is black tungsten with yellow gold inside (to match my engagement ring) and mine is a white gold half moon band (not pictured) that perfectly fits underneath my engagement ring.

Wedding Band Engravings: Alex & I made the decision to have our bands engraved. We were sneaky about it too; we didn't share what we were engraving with the other.
Mine says, "Four minutes till eternity"
His says, "You are my favourite"

If you're wondering what the "four minutes" is referencing, when we first started dating we asked each other 36 questions that lead to love. At the end of the questions, we stared into each others eyes for fours minutes. Sweet, right? I think so.

SPECIAL SONGS
Processional: Alt J "Arrival In Nara"
Recessional: Vitamin String Quartet "Star War's Throne Room/End Title"
First Dance: Lake Street Dive "Just Ask"
Father/Daughter Dance: Paul Simon "Father and Daughter"
Mother/Son Dance: Molly Passuti "The Man You've Become"

Our Wedding Party
Groomsmen: Chad, Derrick and Scott
Bridesmaids: Caitlin, Megan and Jessie

Our Officiant: Alex's "Uncle" Tom
What I loved about having Tom as our officiant was that he was already a part of the family and had known Alex since he was an infant. What made it even more special was the fact that the only poem Tom had ever memorized in college was Shakespeare's Sonnet 116. It felt like fate!

Catering: Francesco's Restaurant. We had Italian food at our wedding and it was a hit! Alex & I had pepperoni pizza, along with the wedding party - which was awesome! As for the rest of our guests, they had baked ziti and ravioli.
Our Wedding Cake: We had two separate wedding cakes. Our personal cake was made by my best friend Megan. It was a traditional almond flavoured cake topped with amethyst geodes and purple and white rock candy. Publix provided the vanilla and Italian rum sheet cake for all of the guests.

Flowers: All the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres (except Alex's) were done by Mildred's Florist. My bouquet consisted burgundy carnations, dusty miller, white limonium, spray roses, wax flower and seeded eucalyptus. As for Alex's boutonniere, I handmade it with hematite quartz crystals to match my crown.

Our "Guestbook": Since Alex is a musician and we both love music, we decided that our guestbook should be an acoustic guitar. It was pretty awesome too. Signature highlight: My sister signing "Vlad". Hahaha.

Wedding Table Decor: We named each table after a different gemstone. There was quartz, hematite, obsidian and amethyst. Each table had a little bunny figurine in honor of Olive, a candle with black lace (a nod to my black lace top), a jar of baby's breath all on top of a wood slice that Alex sawed himself. Our wedding favors included rock candy on a stick.

Something Old: My Grandmother's hematite and pearl brooch
Something New: Bunny earrings from Alex and the hematite crown Megan made me
Something Borrowed: One of the amethyst geodes on our wedding cake came from my step-Dad
Something Blue: My Aunt Rosemarie's agate slice

Wedding Photographer: Laura Davis Photo (thank you again Laura, for capturing the magic!)
Wedding Ceremony & Reception: Bird Island Lake Ranch in Dade City, Florida

I hope you've enjoyed seeing these photos as much as Alex & I enjoy sharing them with you. Our wedding was everything we had envisioned and hoped it would be. And if I could, I would do that day a thousand times over, without changing a thing, because it was beyond perfect.

Don't forget, I'll be back next Wednesday with Part One of our wedding series, "Getting Ready". So, be sure to stay tuned!

  3. Thank you so much for sharing! You looked absolutely stunning!! I love the dress you chose and the head band - Alex's jacket is also perfect. You guys put so many sweet details in to the big day, everything was so put together and thoughtful. I also like the idea of the "day of" cards! If I get married I hope to do that too. I can't wait to see the other posts :]

    1. Thank you, Allison!! You are so sweet. Our outfits were one of my favourite things about the wedding. We felt so much like ourselves. The day of cards really made everything hit home for me, it made me very calm before we were wed. :)
